ENVIRONMENT DAY IDEATHON
In connection with the World Environment Day, The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru chapter organized an Ideathon competition at Infosys, Mysuru on 3-6-2023

In connection with the World Environment Day, The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru chapter organized a massive cleaning program with the tagline “Beat Plastic Pollution” on Sunday 4th June 2023, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru joined its hands for this noble cause.

In connection with Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, to celebrate 75th Independence Day of the country and glories history of its people culture and achievements, NSS unit of GSSSIETW organized an in-house Drawing Competition with the theme “Spirit of Freedom Struggle”. More than 25 students actively participated in the competition and the best two drawings were selected as winners of the competition. The winners were honored by Dr. M Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW on 8th March 2022. First prize was won by Sneha M of 3rd semester ECE Department and the second prize was given to Bhavani K of 3rd semester CSE Department.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized awareness program on importance of education at Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2022 in association with Government High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village. This program was actively carried out by NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW.
During this program NSS volunteers emphasized on importance of Education as, Education is one of the key components for an individual’s success. It has the ability to shape one’s life in the right direction. Education is a process of imparting or acquiring knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment. It prepares oneself or others intellectually for mature life. It improves not only the personal life of the people but also their community. Thus, one cannot neglect the significance of Education in life and society.
NSS volunteers also provided information to school children about the Government initiative, Right to Education Act (RTE Act 2009). This Act came into effect on 1 April 2010, following which education has become the fundamental right of every child in India. On similar lines, volunteers also enlightened students about the other schemes launched by the government such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid-Day Meal, Adult Education, Skill Development Scheme, National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, National Program for Education of Girls at Elementary Education, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Scheme for Infrastructure Development in Minority Institutions, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, etc.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru and Village Panchayth, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk jointly organized International Women’s Day-2022 with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” on 8th March 2022 at Govt. High School premises, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk.
Mr. Rukmanda, Panchayath Development Officer, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath was the Chief Guest of the event in his speech he said that, women are recognized and celebrated for playing various roles in different spheres of life. Women have a spirit which makes them excel in their fields. They contribute massively to the lives of their family members and the country.
During this event Kumar S, Headmaster, Govt. High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day he stressed that there is a great responsibility of the society to empower women to overcome the gender inequality. He also said that, the world is moving towards gender equality, it is moving towards a balance between both men and women. A change is required and is also essential. It is observed that men have had more advantages in every sphere of life in comparison to women since ages. However, this needs a change as we all are humans and should be treated equally with equal rights and opportunities.
The event was presided by Smt. Suma, president, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath, in her presidential address she emphasized that now a day’s Women are indeed making the world to turn heads towards them because of their strength and participation in almost all fields.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Health awareness program at Danagalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 18th November 2021.
Dr. Venkatesh, Medical officer, Community Health Centre, Jayapura village, Mysuru Taluk was the Guest speaker. In his speech he emphasized the importance of cultivating good food habits for good health. Followed by this he spoke about women health issues, symptoms and remedies for various common health problems related to women. In the recent times, concern towards women health has been increased multifold.
There is an increase in the diseases which have been attributed to the recent lifestyle changes of today's woman. The need of the hour is to adopt the easiest strategy of prevention. Prevention means an early diagnosis and a timely effective treatment.

On the occasion of Azadi ki Amruth Mahothsav to commemorate the 75th year of Independence Day, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized plantation program on 18th November 2021 at D Saluhundi Village Govt. High School premises. The event was conducted in association with Danagalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk, Mysuru district.
As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribution to green and healthy environment students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru planted 75 saplings of different varieties. The students and faculties selected the empty places in the school premises and the road sides to plant saplings in a well-organized way. In order to restore the eco-balance of the environment, aforestation drive was taken with all seriousness. Participants were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success.

NSS Volunteers of GSSSIETW visited Organic research Station, Naganahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2021 to know more about Organic farming in current scenario.
Sri NalwadiKrishnaraja Wadiyar, Ruler of Mysore Kingdom, a visionary who set up the Naganahalli Farming Research Centre 110 years ago for the development of Agriculture and to help the farmers to increase their income. Now the centre is functioning under University of Agriculture Sciences, Bengaluru.
During the visit students visited all departments of Research centre and learnt about researches going on in agriculture field. Dr. P Prakash, Professor and Chief of Organic agriculture Research Centre explained about the activities of the centre.
Dr. S N Vasudevan, Associate Director, Research and Development, University of Agriculture Sciences,Bengaluru explained about the journey of organic farming in India, in beginning, organic agriculture was started by a small number of innovative and progressive farmers, farmers’ groups, NGOs, civil society organizations in Karnataka state.

REPORT ON COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL MAINTENANCE AT SSLC EXAMINATION CENTRE on 22nd July 2021

In connection with the SSLC Examinations scheduled on 19th and 22nd July 2021 especially in this pandemic situation of Covid-19 there is a need of taking more safety measures of students and teachers. In this regard Non Government organization Youth For Seva(YFS) came forward to support the State Government in conducting SSLC Examination by following Standard operating procedure(SOP) which was imposed by Govt. of Karnataka. Youth For Seva in association with VTU intended to coordinate the work of ensuring the COVID-19 safety protocol at all SSLC examination centers across Karnataka with the help of faculty members and students of colleges affiliated to VTU.
In this view, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru affiliated to VTU, Belagavi has taken a great step to support this social concern by deputing vaccinated faculty members and student volunteers for ensuring safety measures at Maharaja’s Junior College, JLB Road, Mysuru on 19th and 22nd July 2021.

As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribute towards green and healthy environment, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru had organized plants distribution program with the caption ‘One House One Plant’ on 13th October 2020 at Naganahalli Village in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk. Sri Channappa, Secretary, Naganahalli village panchayath was the chief guest of the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of plantation in current scenario. The purpose of tree plantation is to save the environment and to beautify our life. Trees are valuable gifts of nature they are known as the best friends of human beings. He suggested the villagers to look after the saplings by watering them. He appreciated the efforts of GSSSIETW towards nurturing Mother Nature. During this event, 100 saplings of different verities were distributed to the villagers.

During this event the essential safety materials like Face covers (Masks), Hand Sanitizers & Hand washing solution of worth Rs.12,000/- was distributed to Police Stations of Metagalli and VV Puram extension, Traffic Police Station of VV Puram extension & Urban Primary Health Centres of Saraswathipuram & Kuvempunagar extensions.

In his talk he emphasized the importance Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in shaping the overall personality of young Indians. He enlightened on the Positive attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal.

NSS Volunteers of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru, participated in one day Personality development workshop on Soft skills and Life skills with a tagline ‘YUVASPURNA’ on Thursday 27th February 2020. The workshop was conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru on the eve of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s 185th Birth anniversary at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Poojya Mukthidanandaji Maharaj, President, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru. In his talk he emphasized the importance of cultivating good habits by reading books and listening the words of great personalities in young age will take our life to greater heights.
The second session was delivered by Mr. Subramanyam, Director, Sri Srinivasa Ramanujm Institute, Mysuru. In his presentation he enlightened on the Positive attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal. Followed by this he spoke about the importance of soft skills for

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru celebrated the Constitution Day on 26th November 2019 a day with unique historical significance, as it was on this day in 1949 the Indian Constitution was adopted and thereafter it came into force on January 26th 1950. All first year students of GSSSIETW have taken the “Constitution Day Pledge”, towards resolving all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to physical violence in the case of any dispute. NSS program officer Sheshadri S N gave brief introduction about importance of Constitution Day Celebration. DONATION COLLECTION DRIVE TO ORPHANAGE-CHIGURU
Dr. Shivakumar M, Principal, GSSSIETW with Sri Mahendra S, Orphanage incharge were seen on the occasion.
In connection with the Benefit Drama Show Valivadhe (A Play based on Kuvempu’s Ramyana Darshanam) organized by an orphanage Chiguru which is specially working for the betterment of mentally disabled women, running by Smt. Sushma, Social activist, Koorgalli, Mysuru. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized donation collection drive from 4th October 2019 to 12th October 2019. During this drive students and staff members of GSSSIETW, Mysuru wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.16800/- by purchasing 168 drama tickets each of worth Rs.100/-. The collected amount was handed over to Sri Mahendra S Orphanage Incharge on 12th October 2019.

FLOOD RELIEF FUND COLLECTION DRIVE
In connection with Heavy flood in North Karnataka & Coorg District, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized a donation collection drive in campus from 19th to 30th August 2019. Students and staff wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.14, 224/-. The collected donation was contributed to affected people through Chief Minister Relief fund for Natural calamity.

NSS Unit of GSSIETW, Mysuru celebrated Sadbhavan Day to commemorate the Birth anniversary of Sri Rajeev Gandhi, Ex. Prime Minister of India. All first year students of GSSSIETW have taken the “Sadbhavan day Pledge” on 20th August 2019, towards resolving all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence. NSS program officer Sheshadri S N gave brief introduction about importance of Sadbhavan Day Celebration, Prof. Shashikala, Retd. Professor in Zoology and Environmentalist, Mysuru, Dr.Bellappa S Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry gave oath to the students. Students wholeheartedly participated to accomplish the pledge.

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized an awareness talk on “Swach Bharath Abhiyan” on 19th August 2019 at 10.30 AM. Prof. Shashikala, Professor in Zoology and Environmentalist, Mysuru was the Chief Guest of the event. In her talk, she emphasized the importance of Swach Bharath Abhiyan Program in the upliftment of quality of life. Followed by this, she advised students to join hands wholeheartedly for the successful implementation of this program. She suggested students to separate wet & solid waste in a proper manner to dispose it in a scientific way. During this event, she administered the Swach Bharath Abhiyan pledge to the students.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized an awareness talk on Traffic Rules and Road Safety on 21st August 2019 at 2 PM. Sri B G Prakash, Inspector, Traffic Police Station,VV Mohalla, Mysuru was the Guest Speaker in his talk he explained the importance of traffic signs and road rules.
Traffic signs give information about the road conditions and provide instructions to be followed at the major crossroads, junctions and act as a guide to drivers and ensure proper functioning of road traffic. In India a person is supposed to be familiar with the traffic signs and symbols before acquiring a driving license. Over 15, 0000 people in India are killed every year due to traffic accidents. India has one of the highest rates of accidents in the whole world. One of the prime reasons for these accidents is negligence of road safety norms and traffic signs. Having awareness about road safety norms and traffic signs are an absolute necessity in today’s time.

World Water Day is celebrated on every year 22nd March 2019 to create awareness about water conservation for future. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW & Village Panchayath Siddalingapura Jointly organized World water Day-2019 at Govt. Higher Primary School premises, Siddalingapura Village. Sri Boregowda N N, Panchayath Development Officer, Siddalingapura was the Chief Guest of the event. In his speech he emphasized the importance of saving water resources for our future generations. Sri Prakash A S Head Master, Govt. Higher Primary School, Siddalingapura spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize the water scarcity, water pollution, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation, and the impact on climate change. In this awareness drive 57 NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW stepped forward to spread the word about the importance of Voting and right to vote. During this event students took oath to exercise their valuable right given by Constitution of India and also encourage other people to vote with awareness.

NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW participated in National level Youth Conclave ‘Udvikas-2019’ organized by Youth for Seva organization, Bengaluru in association with Christ University, Bengaluru on 2nd March 2019 at RV Dental College, JP Nagar, Bengaluru. ‘Udvikas-2019’ was an event with the vision of nurturing mindful volunteering practices among students. It was a platform for Students, Institutions and NGOs from diverse regions to learn the unique and more effective practices that can be adopted to serve for the betterment of society. Talk by eminent personalities, Group discussions and Debate were organized during the event. The event was helpful to the students in their overall development.

In connection with the Health checkup camp organized by NSS Unit of Simmha Subbamahalakshmi First grade College, Mysuru at Chatnahalli Palya Village, Varuna Hobli, Mysuru Taluk on 20th February 2019. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru joined its hands to create awareness on Health and Cleanliness among villagers. NSS volunteers motivated the villagers to take part in the health checkup camp.
Doctors from JSS Multi Speciality Hospital, Mysuru and Annapoorna Eye Hospital, Sharadadevi Nagar, Mysuru conducted general health checkup to the villagers, gave prescriptions and advised to take necessary steps to stay healthy. NSS volunteers assisted the villagers and doctors for the success of health checkup camp.
During this event NSS volunteers of both the institutions and faculty members were present.
Flood relief fund collection drive

NSS Special Camp-2018

NSS volunteers Preethu K and Bhoomika T S of 4th Semester Electrical and Electronics Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru were participated in 7days "National Integration Camp" held at NSS Bhavan, University of Mysore, Mysuru. The camp was organized by Karnataka state Youth Empowerment and Sports Department in association with Govt. First Grade College, Siddhartha Nagar, Mysuru from 20th to 26th August 2018.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief guest Poojya Sri Athmajnandaji Maharaj, President Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru in the presence of Prof. C Basavaraju, Vice chancellor, University of Mysore & Sri A N Pujar Regional Director, NSS, Govt. of Karnataka. During the camp various activities were conducted which helped overall development of the individual. About 100 NSS volunteers from various universities of South India were actively participated in the camp. The Camp was concluded on 26th March 2018.

The event was held on Thursday 15th February 2018 at 9.30AM in the premises of Bharath Cancer Hospital, Mysuru with the theme “Freedom from Cancer” in order to create awareness on Cancer disease among public. The event was inaugurated by Dr.Prasad, Senior Regional Consultant, Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust, Govt. of Karnataka by releasing 500 air balloons. In his inaugural speech he emphasized the importance of event in order to create awareness about Cancer disease especially among youth.

The workshop was conducted in association with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (VLEAD), Mysuru at VLEAD campus, Hebbal, Mysuru.
The Workshop begins with the Session on Personality Development & Swami Vivekananda thoughts by Dr. A J Dhananjaya, Former Principal, Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education, Mysuru. In his talk he emphasized the importance of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts to the current generation.
The second session on Attitude and Motivation was delivered by Mr. Sudarshan, Director, VLEAD, Mysuru. In his presentation he enlightened on the Positive Attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal. During this event after group discussion Students gave the presentation on personality development.

In connection with the wide spread of COVID-19 across the Globe as a part of social responsibility Unnat Bharat Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru distributed the essential safety materials to Govt. Higher Primary Schools, Govt. High Schools, Primary Health Centres & Veterinary Hospitals of adopted villages on 10th June 2020.
During this event the essential safety materials like Face covers (Masks), Hand Sanitizers & Hand washing solution of worth Rs.10,000/- was distributed to Govt. Higher Primary Schools, Govt. High Schools, Primary Health Centers & Veterinary Hospitals of Siddalingapura, Naganahalli & Palahalli villages which are adopted villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme, Govt. of India.

Introduction:
Ministry of Human Resources Development(MHRD), Government of India has launched the program Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA), a National Program with the vision to involve professional and other higher educational institutions of the country in the development process of Gram Panchayats so as to enable village cluster to achieve sustainable development and better quality of life. Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi has been designated to be the National Coordinating Institute (CI) by Ministry of Human Resource development (MHRD) for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA) and represented by National Coordinator, UBA at IIT, New Delhi.
GSSSIETW, Mysuru is a premier Engineering College in Karnataka joined its hands as a Participating Institute (PI) in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme by adopting the following 5 villages to strengthen the quality of life.
1. Siddalingapura
2. Palahalli
3. Kesare
4. Naganahalli
5. Belavetta
After adopting the villages, UBA coordinators of the institute has conducted a survey about infrastructure, Basic amenities like Connectivity Roads, Educational institutions, Electrical requirements, Drinking water facility and UGD facility available in the adopted villages. Based on the survey reports several activities were conducted in the adopted villages as per the guidelines of UBA.

Unnat Bharath Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized an awareness program to villagers on “Water conservation & Rain water harvesting in current scenario” at Siddalingapura Village on 17th August 2019 in association with Siddalingapura Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk.
Sri Ramesh Kikkeri, Director, Civil Engineering Division, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Mysuru was the Guest speaker. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of saving water resources for our future generations. Followed by this he spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize the water scarcity, water pollution, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation, and the impact on climate change. There was an interaction program with villagers about water crisis and Rain water harvesting implementation in current scenario. After the talk students go around the village interacted with villagers about the water crisis.

Dr. Sakala, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Engineering, BMSIT, Bengaluru & Advisor, KSPCB, Bengaluru was the Guest speaker. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of solid waste collection and scientific disposal methods employed for the protection of the environment and health of the population. Solid or liquid waste if it is not processed properly before disposing, that will cause air and water pollution. Rotting garbage will produce harmful gases that mix with the air and leads to breathing problems. Scientific waste treatment will save earth for our future generations. Followed by this she spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize and to manage solid waste. There was an interaction program with villagers about solid waste collection and management in current scenario. After the talk students went around the village interacted with villagers about the solid waste management system.

Plastic as a synthetic polymer substitute of natural materials has become an essential aspect of our lives. We have witnessed the considerable increase in the production and consumption of plastic materials from past few decades. Scientific studies proved that consuming plastic leads to cancer, effect on hormone level and heart diseases. In this regard proper awareness about the plastic usage has to be created. Followed by this she talk about the effective measures that has to be taken in order to dispose the plastic waste, if it is not processed properly before disposing that will cause air and water pollution. Aims & Importance of Youth Red Cross Unit
The Youth Red Cross is most important constituent of its mother organization Indian Red Cross Society. Youth Red Cross aims at inculcating the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross movement, such as Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality. The Youth Red Cross is organized with a view to develop and deploy student youth resource for working towards these principles.

Flood relief fund collection drive
In connection with heavy flood in Coorg district, Youth Red Cross Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Coorg Relief fund collection drive in its MBA department. Students and Staff members of MBA department wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.10, 000/- towards Coorg relief fund. The donation was contributed to affected people through Kodava Samaja, Mysuru on 6th September 2018. By signing the MoU,Mysore chamber of Commerce has agreed to execute various Entrepreneurship Development Programmes for the benefit of B.E, M-Tech and MBA students studying in GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women Mysuru. The programmes under MOU include Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes, Certificate programs and other skill development programs. The joint programs between Women wing of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru can promote Innovation, economic self reliance and can motivate the students to become job providers rather than job seekers.

The Inauguration of 5 Days Faculty Development Program on “Entrepreneurship” was organized by ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL(EDC) of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women (GSSSIETW) in association with Atal Incubation Centre Jyothi Institute of Technology Foundation(AIC-JITF) Bangalore in online platform on 25th October 2021.This FDP is being organized with an objective to create a sustainable startup culture among the faculty members of GSSSIETW,Mysore.

On account of International women’s day, the final round Business plan challenge for women was organised on March 10th 2020 by Atal Innovation Centre- Jyothi Institute of Engineering Foundation, Bangalore. Around 40 teams from different engineering colleges spread from various places of Karnataka and kerala participated in the challenge .Eight teams from different departments of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru participated in the challenge . Heeba kauser R, Keerthana B M and Manasa M D of 4th Sem Department of Electronics And Communication Engineering bagged the third prize along with
prize money of Rs 10000. The idea pitched by the team was on "Automatic accident detection and message interfacing via sensor technology"

In 1909 Lord Robert Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting, When faced with an increasing number of Girls Wishing to take part in scouting decided that Girls should have their own separate movement, and the girl guides were Founded in the UK in 1910 Under the guidance of “Agnes Baden Powell”, the sister of Robert Baden Powell.

Centenary Rally of Scouting organized by the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Karnataka District Association, Mysuru on 21/02/2018 and 22/02/2018 at Sri Jayachamarajendra Scouts and Guides Headquarters, Mysuru. The Kalpana Chawala Rangers of GSSSIETW Mysuru were participated and presented the poster on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. conducted under District Rally –2017.

Rangers [ Sri lakshmi from TCE, Papiya mandal from TCE, & Prathima from EEE] of GSSSIETW were participated and won 1ST Prize in First aid competition conducted under District Rally –2017.
