Aims & Objectives
- To provide the best available basic knowledge and day to day innovations to the student community.
- To produce skilled manpower of well trained chemists, capable of taking up positions in various socio economic sectors in the country.
- To stimulate scientific curiosity and general intellectual objectives aimed at producing matured and conscious citizens.
- To support other higher learning education such as Biology, Physics, Zoology, Geology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary and others through the supervision of supportive and minor courses.
- To acquire an ability to think rationally and critically and to apply the knowledge of chemistry in making judgments and solving day to day problems.
- To become aware of the social, economic, environmental and technological application of chemistry and show concern for the environment.
- To educate the students with the capacity to solve real problems and provide leadership that lead to the economic and social transformation of the country.
- To impart sufficient qualitative/quantitative analytical and synthetic chemical knowledge skills to our students to be able to analyze to solve real world problems.
- To impart transferable skills, abilities and knowledge required in a wide range of careers in basic and applied research and development, industry, commerce, monitoring, education and government.
- To impart a discipline approach to conceptualizing chemical problems in numerical terms, working on them theoretically before attempting to put theory into practice.
- To develop student’s capacity to readily adapt to and making use of emerging technologies.
The department of chemistry was established in 2003. the department has well qualified and dedicated faculty members with good infrastructure. The faculty members are actively involved in teaching, guiding and counselling the students of all the branches of engineering at I & II semester levels. It is also well equipped with instruments like UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, flamephotometer, conductometers, pH meters, potentiometers, electronic balance etc. The department has been recognised as research center by VTU.
